Full face of first impressions #2

ROLLY Mag

Well, *almost* a full face πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

Physicians Formula bronzer / here (but US only sorry)

As eyeshadow, gorgeous colour! Especially with the top layer of shimmer that is on the product. I talk about the staying power next…

Essence primer / here

It’s blue, you guys! Crazy. It has a sunscreen like texture and smell, but it dries down like a primer. And, not sure if it is the PF bronzer or the combo of that with the primer, but my eyeshadow was looking as good as new even 10 hours later! (I swiped the primer across my eyes too!)

Super happy with this!

Essence liquid makeup / couldn’t find online in Aus!

Very sheer coverage, not sure if this could even be built up. Definitely had a matte finish, as the packaging promises.

Nice for everyday wear and very affordable if that’s what you’re looking for.

And for the price and coverage, last a few hours in the warm weather relatively well.

This is a hard one- but I will probably keep wearing it because I have it, but wouldn’t buy it.

Covergirl Lip Primer / here (so Covergirl is available at Chemist Warehouse now apparently!)

I thought lip balm was a suitable lip primer… boy I was wrong! This product is actually amazing. Something about the consistency is different to a lip balm. Super comfortable and even though I tried a new lippie (so can’t say which product made it long lasting!) I noticed a big difference in the application and longevity.

Revolution Matte Liquid Lip and Lip Liner Duo / here

The lip liner is really lovely and creamy, and I like the the liquid lip itself. It’s a comfortable matte and lasted quite well. But I am quite fair and so I’m just not sure this shade suits me. But I would definitely recommend it!

Thanks for reading! I am loving this new series ❀️

My 19th Birthday: Makeup Of The Night, Haul & First Impressions

ROLLY Mag

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve mentioned my birthday on my blog.

To be honest, this year is the first that I’ve really “advertised” my birthday.

In the past, I’ve been happy to let it come and go with an ice cream cake and not too much fuss.

But this year I went all out. Because yolo.

So this weekend I had the final birthday celebrations, a joint party with my bestie.

I’ve been so excited to share my makeup look and a few other things, so I hope you enjoy this jam packed post!

Let’s start with the makeup.

Makeup

Tribe Skincare Anti Redness Serum / here

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer / here

OMShe Primer (my one and only!) / here

Chi Chi CC Cream / here

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer / here

Rimmel Conceal and Bake Setting Powder / here

Rimmel Bronzer / here

Models Prefer Mineral Powder / here

Llivia Beaute Highlight in Chai / here

Rimmel Eye Brow Pencil / here

Blush colour indicated in purple.

L’OrΓ©al Telescopic Mascara / here

Covergirl Lip Primer / here

Barry M Lip Kit: Lip liner and gloss in shade Femme / here

MAC Setting Spray / here

I have a another “First Impressions” blog post coming which reviews a lot of these products… so you’ll hear all about them then!

Sorry that the order of posts is a bit all over the place ha!

But basically, I was testing out a lot of makeup to see which products would make the cut to be used for my birthday… so you can assume that I love all the things I’ve mentioned above!

Haul

On the way to my party, I swung past Chemist Warehouse to buy some things from their “buy 2, get 1 free deal” on Flower Beauty. I knew I wanted to try the blush and mascara but it took me ages to decide on a third product. I was contemplating the setting spray but I already have quite a few, so I chose the lipstick instead! I did want a brush but the store I was at didn’t stock them- sad face.

Blush in Sweet Pea

Lash Warrior Mascara in Black (first impressions below!)

Lip Duo in Honey Nude: I gave this a quick try and really like the lipstick. It’s a browny-nude which I don’t have in my collection. But the lip gloss is literally just a glitter gloss so don’t love that.

First Impressions

I took a few sample products to try whilst I was away, as part of @bottledbeautyblog’s #SeptemberSamples challenge.

Here’s what I thought!

Garnier Micellar Water: I received this in a Priceline GWP last month. I have only ever tried the milky water version of this and I enjoy that. But I understand the hype for this now. Was very gentle on my skin yet effective. Impressed!

Shop full size here.

White Glo: This is from the Priceline GWP as well. I’m a big fan of the charcoal toothpaste and so I wasn’t surprised when I enjoyed this too. Definitely has a coconutty taste so if you don’t like that, this isn’t for you!

Shop full size here.

Kielh’s Overnight Masque: this had a gel like consistency which I wasn’t expecting but oh my gosh- it’s incredible! My skin was feeling amazing the next day! The instructions say to wipe off excess after 10 minutes by I didn’t do that. I will definitely be purchasing this full sized! Dangerous to try β€œhigher end” products and love them haha!

Shop full size here.

Now on to other non-sample first impressions!

Skin Republic Prep and Prime Mask: This mask is pink which is fun but also quite small. I have an average size face and find that often masks are too big, but this was really quite small. Had a subtle scent and whilst it was nice to use, I don’t think I’d repurchase. You could use any sort of sheet mask and receive the same effect of provide a β€œplump” base for makeup.

Shop here.

Flower Beauty Lash Warrior Mascara: (image and link above!)

Even though I had spent a lot of effort choosing the products I would wear for my birthday makeup… I went wild and tried this mascara for the first time as well!

The brush is thin, which I didn’t love. It was lengthening but I found my lashes clumped together and weren’t separated.

I’ve read that a lot of people had issues with the staying power of this mascara but I thought it held up well.

I don’t, however, believe it lives up to the hype.

It is too much of a bold look for everyday but not bold enough for a night out.

Of course, I’ve only used this product once and so my thoughts may change but that’s where I’m at with this.

I ended up topping up my mascara with my L’OrΓ©al (what I had intended to wear) but still wasn’t happy with the overall look of my mascara.

Models Prefer Mineral Powder:

This product was another last minute addition to my makeup look. I wanted to have something a bit more shimmery to top over my bronzer. And I have heard comparisons of this to Hourglass so I had high expectations…

That weren’t fulfilled.

I tried to apply this first with brush, and then with my fingers… but the payoff was really poor both ways.

It left a lovely glow on my finger that didn’t transfer to my face at all.

So I’m not sure how I will continue to use it.

Mecca Sugar Queen Palette:

My bestie bought this for me for my birthday and I was soooooo excited to use it for the first time.

I was really excited about using the shimmer shades but honestly, it was the mattes that blew me away.

They were so creamy, not overly pigmented which was nice because it could be built up.

I adore it!

I did try using the mattes as a blush but found they didn’t work as well as they did as eyeshadow.

It was actually the shade “Sprinkle” that is a silvery pink that disappointed me. All it was, was silver. There was not much pink pigment to it at all which I was sad about.

But overall, I am so in love with this palette.

It had such a hype, both by the brand and bloggers, but I do understand it and think it’s justified.

And it is a huge, quality palette at a really great price.

Super happy!

Random

I also just wanted to share some of the gifts my friends gave me.

– assorted face masks from my one my besties recent visits to Japan

– a poetry book, with the most beautiful title; “The Princess Saves Herself In This One.” I can’t explain why but this quote just gives me all the feels. My new life motto, I’ve already put this quote on my felt board hah!

– a foil eyeshadow from Mecca, gold shimmers are my fave eye look so I’m excited to use this!

– and, omg, a Caye Life travel mug! I am so thrilled with this, it’s exactly what I wanted. I have been eyeing it up for ages and my bestie said she would buy it for me, so I’ve been hanging out for it to arrive! Can’t wait to use it. I love the colour too!

Ta-da!

That’s my birthday makeup, done and dusted!

Hope you enjoyed this post- it did take a little while to compile everything together. And wait for the sun to come out so I could get a photo πŸ˜…

Thank you for all my birthday wishes.

Week Latte #21

ROLLY Mag

Happy Friday, guys!

It has been a busyyyyyy week and I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed- but finally the weekend is here. And with it, my birthday party (joint with my bff!)

We are so excited to celebrate our birthdays together… it’s been a long time coming!

In the meantime, short and sweet link loving today. I have so much I want to share but I’m a little too tired to fiddle around too much. So next week will be jam packed!

Enjoy and happy weekend!

Last month, Taboo launched their products! Such a massive achievement. Read more here.

And because I love Isabel, I’m sharing another link of hers! Introducing… The Beauty Encyclopaedia πŸ€—

How amazing is this goodie box from ASOS! I’m very impressed with the quality of products. You can use my referral link for ShopBack to buy it here.

@bottledbeautyblog shared a fan GWP from David Jones. Receive a free Lano Cleanser when you purchase either the Daycream or Aussie Flyer Mask. Shop here.

September Editor’s Letter

ROLLY Mag

*September 1st*

Brain: don’t say it don’t say it don’t say it don’t say it

Me: How is it September already!?

Yep.

We have a lot of talk about.

Namely, my birthday! Again!

I celebrated my 19th birthday last month and felt sooooo spoiled by my Insta friends. Truly, you guys!! Thank you.

I have my birthday party next weekend, and let’s just say MUCH EXCITE!!!!!!

Also, I think I have settled my mind about uni.

I don’t think I’m going to go next year.

Just writing that FILLS ME WITH ANXIETY!!!!

I have been trying to figure out what I would study- but I really just couldn’t decide. The prospect of university doesn’t excite me, it fills me with dread- to be honest.

The only issue I have, is that if I don’t go to uni, I will need a full time job. Neither of the two jobs I have now have the capacity to increase to full time.

And one of those jobs is only contracted until the end of this year. Stresssssss.

So I have been hustling- big time. Trying to seek out work, internships etc etc.

I do feel a lot more peace with my decisions. Not to mention, a lot of worry too.

It’s just crazy because I NEVER anticipated that my life post high school would look like this. To be honest, I don’t think anyone did.

Moving forward, I want to write some goals for my nineteenth year. And do you even have goals if you don’t share them on the internet?

Ideally, I’d like to create 19 goals, and realign myself for the rest of 2019. Realistically, I’m yet to find the motivation to do that. And so, to be continued.

1. Go on a Contiki tour (I’ve never had the travel bug, but my confusion and frustration regarding uni has made me feel like I really need to GET OUT!)

Ok, I told you I’m struggling with creating 19 goals! I saw @thesouthsiderhunter share fashion goals and I thought “yes!” She totally articulated what I was thinking! My major focuses are:

2. Remember to wear my beautiful jewellery.

3. Wear gym clothes only when at the gym / dog walks!

What were your goals for 2019? Was it β€œlose weight”, β€œget fit”, β€œlook after myself better”?

Can you even remember?

If you haven’t achieved your goals by now, as the year draws to a close, it’s easy to feel disappointed in yourself (Hashtag been there, done that!)

But if β€œwell-being” was one of your goals- don’t get deflated too soon.

There’s one simple (and stylish!) thing you can do… protect your eyes from blue light with @baxterblue_ !

So you’ve heard of Baxter Blue, but who is it and what do they do? BB create non-prescription glasses to filter blue light from digital devices (a fusion of health and wellness πŸ™Œ).

The blue light from our screens can cause digital eye strain (sore, tired eyes, headaches and fatigue). But, simply wearing your BBs can protect you from that!

If you’re NY Resolution was to β€œgive back”, you can do that with BB too!

Every time a pair of Baxter’s are purchased, BB donate a pair of reading glasses to someone in need through their pair for a pair pledge with @restoringvision – the ultimate manifestation of β€œone for you, one for me”! πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

So, what style of Baxter’s will you choose?

Baxter Blue kindly gifted me these Lola frames (πŸ’β€β™€οΈ) in champagne 🀩😎

ALSO!! Aussie and US shoppers, use the code β€œBBEXPRESS”for free express shipping *happy dance!* πŸ™πŸ₯³

I would love to hear your “end of year” goals in the comments below.

Thanks for reading xxx

August Favourites

ROLLY Mag

August favourites 🌟

Proud of myself for remembering to do this post for the second month in a row πŸ€—

Actually LOVEEEEEE all the products I’m talking about today. In no particular order…

Floss Beauty Lip Gloss / here

I received this is gloss in the August Bella Box and I literally haven’t stopped wearing it. This shade is JFK and I would describe it as β€œyour lips but better”.

Llivia Beaute Highlighter in Chai / here

This single highlight is honestly crazyyyyy pigmented and lasts on the cheekbones ALL DAY! I also love using it on the inner corners of my eye. It’s the perfect rose gold/champagne mix. Agh – heaven. You might have seen on my IG that I recently bought the Game Changer eyeshadow palette from Llivia too! Can’t wait to play with it!

Tribe Skincare Anti Redness Serum / here

I shared this serum on Instagram and I had a few of my lovely followers literally buy it straight away! Probably because I was preaching it’s incredible effects. I used it on top of my moisturiser one morning and almost like magic, my redness reduced. So impressed. Will definitely repurchase the full size when I get through this mini!

Physicians Formula Blush / unable to find online sorry!

I won this from Fickle Kitten Beauty but actually picked up another one in a Priceline sale earlier in the year. I used this for the first time as an eyeshadow and it is so pigmented and creamy to use. The glitter topping on the blush was also working gorgeously for the eyes, but I’m not sure how I’d use this blush actually on the cheeks.

Australis Setting Spray / here

Not going to lie, I thought setting sprays were a bit of a gimmick (before I used one!) But, since trying this mini, my thoughts have changed! It gives your makeup so much staying power- I’m very impressed. And now I’m intrigued, what’s your fave setting spray?

Ulta3 Serum Foundation / here

I have actually reviewed this foundation here, but to summarise: fresh-faced look with light coverage but won’t last 8 hours without the help of a setting spray! And personally, this foundation is actually a bit hard to get a hold off unless it’s online.

I’d love to know some of your beauty faves from this month- leave them in the comments below!

Week Latte #20

ROLLY Mag

Happy Friday, friends!

It’s been a hectic week around these parts. And it doesn’t look like it’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

I won’t lie, feeling a tad overwhelmed… so this morning I took Lola for a lovely long walk in the sun and that definitely filled my cup.

Enjoy the links!

I was so excited to be featured of Cortney’s “Chat With” series again this week, read here.

And for more fun reading, I featured Cortney on my “Blogging BTS” series this week as well! Soooooo interesting. Read here.

I’m so indecisive, so related a LOT when reading this column.

Jessica Riga is on Buzzfeed– hurray!

I share glossy eye looks so often but I jus glove them *that much*!

Another eye look, love this subtle pink.

Obsessed with these rings.

Shelfie goals. Makes me want o redecorate my room, but also… I don’t know where I’d start!

Super informative post by K. Wish I picked this up now!No words except HEAVEN by Emily.

This Bazaar x TDE pouch is Insta famous- big time! Love how Kels has captured it.

Another reason it’s great to keep my blog a secret, I can tell you what I bought my bestie for her birthday without fear of spoiling it! She is a teacher-to-be and asked for a yellow lanyard. I had the love Sam help me design one for her, and when it arrived in the mail, Sam had included a pair of earrings each for my bestie and I. So thoughtful. *That* is why small business is so special. Those considerate touches. So happy to support this boss mama. See X&O Co here.

I tend to reach for colour in my clothing, but how gorgeous is the simplicity of these neutrals by Jamie-Lee.

I’ve started a folder in my IG saves called “Xmas” where I’m putting Christmas present ideas for my family and friends. Obsessed with these coasters! And speaking of Christmas (ekkkkkkkkkk!) I’m am thinking of compiling a “gift guide” series. I’m in an incredible IG group chat with some boss ladies businesses, and Alana is already starting on hers- which is making me start thinking about it already too! If you’ve made a gift guide before, would love to hear some advice?

Blogging BTS #5 By Makeup With Cortney

ROLLY Mag

Hey hey everyone, welcome back to Blogging BTS.

Please welcome today’s guest blogger, my good friend Cortney from @makeupwithcortney.

Cortney was excited to come on board, but also apprehensive about how her answers would appear. I totally understand that- sharing this “bts” is scary because, in the Blogging world, it has an air of secrecy surrounding it.

I’m so happy Cortney has shared her answers, I certainly learnt a lot myself!

You can read Cortney’s blog here.

And follow her IG here.

You can read the rest of the Blogging BTS series here.

How long have you been blogging/had your IG?

I’ve been blogging for two years now, and just celebrated my blogs birthday back in June. It’s super crazy to think that I’ve been on these platforms for two years, I have no idea where that time has gone.

What was the first item you were ever β€˜hashtag gifted’?

It was actually a parcel from NYX Cosmetics! They reached out to me on Instagram when I had around 500 followers and I couldn’t believe it. I received a foundation, contour palette and some lipsticks, and I seriously couldn’t understand why they would send the products to me. It was a big moment for me, and I actually still have the pink parcel that it came in, haha.

Do you reach out to brands to collaborate? Or do you wait for them to approach you?

I do a mixture. Sometimes I will have brands reach out to me to collaborate and sometimes I reach out to them. It just depends on the brand and whether they notice little ole me, or whether I need to showcase myself to them. Majority of the time I just wait to hear from them though.

If so, have you ever been rejected by a brand for a collaboration?

Yes, quite a few times actually. It’s weird but I actually see it as a benefit to be rejected. It makes me want to work that much harder and make my content that much better.

Have you ever reached out to a brand and received no response?

All the time! This is something I had to come to terms with when I first started reaching out to brands. It happened in the beginning and it still happens now. The thing is is that brands and PR companies get so many emails from bloggers and ‘influencers’ that they can’t possibly reply to all of them. Although, it might be gutting at first, I’ve come to realise that obviously we just aren’t meant to collaborate at this time.

Have you had a β€˜pinch me’ blogging moment?

Definitely being invited to the media preview event of Meccaland. I can’t even begin to describe the level of excitement that I experienced when I saw the invitation in my inbox. I remember bursting into tears and just pinching myself. Like how did I even get so lucky?! Seriously a massive moment that I’ll remember for a long time.

Can you think of a time when your following (as in, the number of followers you have) has ever disadvantaged or benefitted you?

Hmmm this one has stumped me.. I don’t think that I’ve ever really had something like this happen that was to my knowledge. But I guess my following would either benefit or disadvantage me with attending events or being gifted products.

Who is your dream brand to collaborate with?

Disney! I actually think that I would burst into tears if that happened.

Is it your goal to make blogging a full time job?

I’m actually kind of awkward around answering this question. It’s something that I believe is seen as a controversial thing to say in the beauty community, so I’m nervous to admit how I actually feel. I would love to and at the same time wouldn’t love to make blogging a full time job. I’m studying journalism at University and as I’ve gone through my degree I’ve discovered that I no longer want to be a ‘traditional’ reporter. Instead, I want to do something where I can constantly create and talk about what I love. That’s why I’d kind of love to do blogging as a career. It would be incredible to be able to wake up and do something that I love each day. But at the same time the chances of this happening are like 1 in a million, so I’m not holding my breathe. At the moment my current career aspirations are to work in PR, so I guess i’ll be blogging in some respects.

What’s one PR package you wish you received?

I don’t actually feel like there’s been a PR parcel that I wish I got. I’m incredibly grateful for everything that I do receive, so I try not to focus on what everyone else is getting.

If someone said β€˜what do you do?’ would you say β€˜I’m a blogger?’ Why/why not?

Haha definitely not! My best friend doesn’t even know that I run a blog. Because of the prejudice that surrounds being a blogger or ‘influencer’ as some might say, I wouldn’t mention it at all. A lot of people just seem to look and think that we are just in it for the free products when it’s not the case at all. I’d prefer to just tell people I’m a journalist or photographer… still being able to tell people the gist of it, but without revealing it I guess.

Do you have an issue with the algorithm?

For the sanity of myself I’ll keep this answer simple. I know there’s been a lot of outrage in regards to the algorithm, but for me I believe that you receive what you put in. Engaging with your audience and other people is so important with all of the changes going on, and something we always need to remember. Without our audience, we’d just be talking to ourselves.

What’s one condition you would never agree to with a gifted or sponsored post?

A brand telling me how I need to talk about the product. I make it a big deal to be 100% honest and transparent with my audience, so if a brand told me I needed to talk about the product in a positive light, or post a pre-made caption I would decline very quickly. I want my blog to be completely authentic to myself, and I pride myself on being honest, so nothing could change this.

What is one of your conditions that a brand must agree to in order to collaborate with you?

They need to be able to respect that I’m going to post my honest thoughts, whether it’s positive or negative.

Have you ever had a negative experience with a brand?

No, I don’t think that I have. I actually had a brand contact me last year and thank me for being honest with my product review. It was a mix of both positive and negative thoughts and it was nice to see a brand recognise the feedback I had given.

For the sake of this question, we are calling you (and me!) an β€˜influencer’ (or micro-influencer’): Can you give us just a general overview of your opinion on the whole β€˜influencer’ space? Do you trust β€˜influencers’ opinions?

I feel like in the influencer space there’s a mixture of positives and negatives. These days it’s just so hard to navigate the authenticity of some bigger bloggers and trust their opinions. There’s some that I know and I trust, but there are also some that I wouldn’t trust. It just comes down to who they are, audience and how authentic they come across.

But overall I do somewhat like the ‘influencer’ space. For me I always just refer to myself and my friends as bloggers, as I kind of don’t like the term ‘influencer’. It just seems so foreign and wrong to me. Yes, we might influence people to buy products, but its no different to me recommending one to a friend. It’s just something that I don’t like to label myself as. I’m just a normal 20 year old girl, sharing what she loves.

Share the story of how you gained a gifted item? From the initial contact, to the post of the item etc. Was it smooth sailing?

I actually had to go through my Instagram feed to jog my memory and find an interesting story to tell you. Actually lets talk about the Lumi Minx that I received. I had the owner of the brand reach out to me on Instagram and express her interest in collaborating with me. I had a look at the product and saw that it was something that I would use so I agreed to the collaboration. The product was being sent to me for consideration and I obviously knew that I wouldn’t be able to judge the product until I got it in front of me. But I did have one of my friends receive the product before me and she loved it. So I knew that it was going to be likely I would love it. The shipping was quick and the entire process of testing the product and forming my opinion was easy. I instantly loved it and the entire concept, so was more than happy to post about it on my Instagram feed and stories. This was a super smooth sailing collaboration. Oh, also when I say collaboration I just mean receiving a gifted product… there was no money exchanged for this one.

Name three bloggers who admire and why:

Oh snap, this one is going to be hard. I have so many bloggers that I admire for different reasons… oh man okay..

@Rolly.Mag – I love how honest and authentic you are to yourself. I love that you’re unapologetically you and that you are so transparent. Not to mention that I love your constant Instagram stories. You are someone I admire because you don’t give up, you keep going and I love that you’re putting your own stamp on the beauty community.

@Carriejaboor – Carrie is one of the kindest, most down to earth humans I have met. We have had so many conversations about life and Disney and I value every single one of them. Not to mention that I love her positivity on her feed. She’s always going out of her way to make others feel better about themselves, and I love that.

@Katrinaamybeauty – No matter what this girl is faced with, she constantly tries to remain positive. I admire her for her eyeshadow skills, because holy moly she’s talented. She actually inspires me to try and up my own eyeshadow game.

I hope these are okay… I didn’t realise how difficult this would be… haha. I’m worried some of my answers didn’t come off how I wanted them to.

Take us behind the camera, do you use natural or artificial light? Phone or DSLR? How do you edit pictures?

I use completely natural light. I’m lucky enough to have a massive window in my bedroom, which means its always flooded with endless light. Whether I use my phone or DSLR camera depends on what I’m taking photos of. If it’s a detailed shot or it’s for the blog I’ll use my DSLR. But generally my Instagram photos I just use my phone.

Oh man my editing process…. So first I run it through Photoshop Express and brighten, lighten and put my tag onto it. Then I put it through FaceTune just to add a little extra white to the background. Sometimes I’ll run it through Snapseed or Lightroom, but it just depends on the photo.

Are you fussy with your feed or do you just wing it? If you are particular and intentional, tell us about the planning process.

I used to be super fussy, but now I’m kind of in the middle. Somedays I’ll find myself wanting to plan it out completely, and other days I’ll just go with it.

If I do have a planning process, I try to pair similar photos together, while also trying to add different angled photos to mix it up. So you may find I’ll upload two flatlays, a desk shot, maybe a more lifestyle bigger flatlay and then repeat. But I don’t really have a set pattern for it.

Explain the purpose of a β€œtest post”.

Basically it’s where I’ll upload the photo I’m going to upload that night and see whether the colour tone and brightness matches my feed. It basically just allows me to check that I edited it consistently with my other photos.

Full face of first impressions #1

ROLLY Mag

Ok, so maybe not a full face… but key players!

And, ok, maybe not “new in” more like, “products I’ve had for ages and am only using for the first time”.

Yeah, that’s more like it. (But a tad too long for a title, agree?)

The moral of the story: new things, all cheap, all relatively difficult to get your hands on in store. Soz.

Ulta3 Serum Foundation in 1. ivory // buy it here

– Picture credit: Emily at @emmiesbeautylife // read her review here

– buildable coverage

– very brightening with a dewy finish that became more matte as it dried down

– gives an almost “filtered” effect in blurring the appearance of your skin

– so affordable

– very very veryyyyyy limited colour range

– after 8 hours of wear, it had begun to slightly cling around my nose and almost totally wore off on my chin, but still had an overall “fresh glow” to my complexion. Loveeeeee!

Ulta3 2-in-1 brows in brunette // buy it here

– I normally go for blonde in brow products but find they often have an red undertone, so chose this one instead (that and it was the only option at the store hah)

– really enjoyed the crayon end of this, however if you miss your eyebrow (like I did) it’s hard to blend the product

– the clear gel was nice, but didn’t dry very well… I noticed it went a bit tacky like dry PVA glue and I had to pull it off… but maybe I just applied too much in that particular spot because the rest of my brows were fine!

Barry M Crushed Jewel Cream Eyeshadow in 1. Duvet Day // buy it in store at Big W

– very wet formula that is difficult to apply

– no matter if I used my finger, a brush or the applicator, it seemed to wipe off more product that in out on

– however once dried, it stayed put

– wouldn’t choose this colour again, I’d prefer something more bronzey

Essence “I need a miracle” mascara // buy it in store at Priceline and Target

– love the brush shape

– gave good length

– didn’t feel overly voluminous though

– didn’t live up to the hype in my opinion, after first use

Flower Beauty Light Illusions Concealer in Fair // buy it here

– this product has so much hype!

– it did really impress me with the full coverage and brightening effect

– it did however crease under my eyes almost immediately! And I don’t really have under eye creases!

Have you used any of these products?

Week Latte #19

ROLLY Mag

Happy Friday lovelies.

This week’s post has come about so quickly!

I have a whole heap of ideas buzzing in my head- but unfortunately real life gets in the way of blogging sometimes. Feels like I say this every week πŸ™ƒ

But let’s just say, lots of BTS is happening, which will make for some juicy “Blogging BTS” posts!

Let’s do this:

This was a really cool, career read by Baxter Blue.

Really loving Q&A style blog posts right now. And this one was made even better because it was all about beauty, with Ms Hannah E!

How cute are these earrings!?

So Mecca did a thing… they launched a brand new eyeshadow palette and I hate myself for loving it as much as I do! Tbh, I’m still made about the hype of the sale they did earlier in the year that turned out to be just old stock. Are they redeeming themselves with this palette. Maybe. I’m going to try and resist buying it for as long as possible. But see for yourself, how hard that will be!

I’ve featured both Ella and Emma on the Week Latte before, but this link is a collaboration between the two of them! So excited to read Ella’s money diary.

Lanolips has launched their own online store! So now you can products directly from them. Much excite. Much spend. Especially on these sets.

Emily is being an adult and doing a no buy. Inspiring. I should really take a lead out of her book!

This week Cortney and I collaborated on a blog post and it was so fun!

Read mine here. And read Cortney’s here.

S from @sensitiveskingal was inspired to make her own version of “what’s in my bag”. I looooove this shot. So sunny! S will be launching a blog soon- can’t wait! Be sure to give her a follow here.

Last weekend I met up with Daisy from Daisy Chain Daydreams at Higher Ground cafe to record a podcast for her uni assignment. It was such a cool experience, to meet a Blogging bff in real life! We had such good chats over chai lattes. Feeling so grateful for this community. πŸ™

What’s in my bag *collab*

ROLLY Mag

I am so excited to share today’s post with you!

One of my brilliant and creative internet bffs, Cortney, suggested we do a collab post and of course, I said yes!

So here we are. Two posts on the same topic; what’s in my handbag.

You can read Cortney’s post here.

And follow her on IG here.

My current handbag is from Peta and Jain, and I picked it up for the absolute bargain price of $30 from TK Maxx.

You can see the whole range from Peta and Jain here.

Let’s dive in!

Thank You Hand Sanitiser:

This smells like grapefruit and the spray application is really convenient- so good! I also have the lemon scent that I keep in my tote bag for work.

Chapstick lip balm:

Would it be my handbag with a lip balm? Despite my obsession, I only have a few lip balms in my bag at any time. Usually a balm like this, and then either a tinted balm or a lipstick/gloss.

Maarks Lip in Bare:

This is my current handbag lip stick of choice. Perfect for everyday wear if I just lightly blot it on.

Kmart Purse:

This is a new addition to my bag, and it’s only $3 you guys! And it comes in a few cute colours.

I actually have a bigger purse from Kikki K that fits very comfortably in this bag but wanted to try something different with this one. I thinks convenient to be hung on your keys too!

Mostly contains my bank card, Priceline card and drivers license hahah.

Natura Maga Solid Perfume:

Love having this perfume for sweet-smelling top ups throughout the day. The balm application gives me peace of mind that it won’t leak in my bag (that’s my biggest fear!!)

Phone:

Basically just wanted an excuse to show off my cute phone case! Use code 15AUG for 15% off at Olivia & Co. But yes, my phone is always with me, usually for snapping bargains I find or listening to music (enter: headphones!)

Scrunchie:

Usually I have one in my hair, one in bag and one on my wrist. And a heckofalot of bobby pins! What are your handbag essentials? Let me know in the comments!
