Week Latte #27

ROLLY Mag

Happy Friday!

Hate to be a Debbie downer but Friday realllllly doesn’t have the same effect when you work in retail haha. Nonetheless, the weekend is almost here and it means I’m sharing the love for some cool content.

I was really tempted to not make this post this week.

I have been SO busy. I was just going to make the pic for the gram and call it a day.

But I thought to myself, “why am I not doing something that brings me joy?”

That kicked my butt into gear, and so I stayed up a little later last night (a lot! I got distracted by IG haha) to collate this post for you.

I hope you enjoy!

Be sure to let me know in the comments if you’ve seen or created cool content this week too ❤️

On Sunday, my blogging bestie Daisy and I went for brunch at Grain Store. See the deliciousness here. We had to wait a while for a table, but it was so worth it! Such a cool (but v noisy!) vibe and incredible food. We both got the corn fritters. And iced chai lattes… my new obsession!

Roxane shared this pic on her story. I love lilac eyes… as I’ve said before hah.

Kim overhauled her beauty space… it looks so beautiful!

I hope that if you are reading this, you understand the importance of wearing spf everyday. Hannah has a few friendly reminders for you. Tag your friends!

How beautiful are the rose gold details on these cosmetic bags? 😍

@thebeautyroast shared this pic by Jazz and I was so intrigued! It’s a great way to use up your products! If I’m organised enough… I might try to do this in November.

This gets me goooooood. I struggle with imposter syndrome both on IG and in my “real” job. Saving this as a reminder for myself. Emma also wrote this fab post about balancing your side hustle.

I love watching this beautiful family on YouTube… I imagine this will be such a heart felt and interesting read.

I’m ashamed to admit I *STILL* haven’t tried Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes. I need to get onto it… especially when they look this pretty.

MAC has dropped prices for us Aussies, making a bullet lippie $30 instead of $36! That is a major saving- things like this don’t happen very often! Eleanor shared the news here.

I haven’t looked into this that much, but I like the look of this journal. Pretty sure it was an ad on FB hah. Anyone tried this or something similar?

I was kindly gifted a candle from Club Candle this month in a Shea butter scent to “calm my chaos”. It’s been really special to burn at night, as I associate it with a sense of being “grounded” and it really does calm the chaos of my day. And it smells delish. Learn more here. Not soon just good!

I am seriously in love with this Disney collection. Sara captured it beautifully!

And if you read this as it goes live, be sure to make the most of V&Me’s free shipping deal in celebration of Catherine’s birthday. Use the code BDAYLOVE at checkout! Have a fabulous week!

PM Skincare Routine

ROLLY Mag

Happy “skincare Sunday” everyone!

To be honest, only in the last few months has my Pm skincare routine really developed.

Usually, I would just use three or four products from the same line (Sukin or Neutrogena mostly) and call it a night (literally!)

But since joining the beauty community, I’ve discovered some really cool brands and learnt a lot about skincare.

However, this skincare routine is form last month and has had a bit of a shake up since I originally took the photo (my content is so behind guys ah life!).

Nonetheless, I really enjoyed this combo of products and hope you enjoy the read.

What’s your PM skincare routine like? A few steps, or a lot? 🙊

The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser / here

Before I used this cleanser, I always had a ‘tight’ feeling after I washed my face. But I thought that meant it was clean. I’ve since learnt that (thanks to You Beauty), I actually had a damaged skin barrier. I remember the exact episode, but you can read more about it here. Now, my skin truly feels clean but without the tight, uncomfortable sensation. And a little goes a long way! I’ve tried using both balm and oil cleansers in the past but really dislike them. Gel all the way! (gifted)

White Glo Coconut Oil Shine Toothpaste / here

Toothpaste and handcream have been my best beauty discoveries of the year… ha! I love most coconut-scented things so this was right up my alley. It doesn’t leave you with a minty taste of traditional toothpaste but I’ve enjoyed adding it to my night time routine for something different. (gifted)

L’Oreal Laser Renew Glycolic Peel Pads / here

I only use these once a week, and they are just another example of ‘shit I bought for literally no reason’. I mean, they’re nice. But they’re expensive and I don’t really have a place for them in my routine.

Avene Thermal Water / here

No explanation needed. ILY.

The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream / here

I thought ‘I’m young I don’t need eye cream’ but lol jokes actually I do. A couple of late nights had me with heavy dark bags under my eyes, so I started using this eye cream more consistently. I noticed SUCH a difference. I was also scared because I have sensitive eyes, but this stuff is super gentle. Really impressed. (gifted)

Derma E Vitamin C Serum / here

Vit C is an ingredient I honestly don’t know much about and I only use this because it was gifted to me in a Bella Box and I was participating in #SeptemberSamples. It’s nice, but I am using so many new products on my face that I can’t say if this product alone has got my skin to it’s good place right now. I don’t think I’d repurchase this one, however I would like to discover the brand a bit more. (gifted)

Good Molecules Discoloration Serum / here

Again, because I am using so many new products it is hard to say which one is making a difference. But! This stuff feels super duper hydrating above all else and my skin does have a more even complexion since I’ve stuck to this routine. One particular night when I got home late and tired and other things (ahem), all I did to my face was remove my makeup, put on the Inkey eye cream and this serum, and went to bed. My skin usually freaksssss out after I do a full face of makeup, but I woke up the next day with perfectly normal skin. Therefore, I owe many thanks to this serum. You can only get Good Molecules via Beauty Lish in Aus but even still it is affordable. (gifted)

Sukin Hydration Elixir / here

This was recommended by someone in my early days on IG and I was intrigued because it is part of their ‘ageless’ range. But as you (and I) are probably learning, no age label will stop me from using skincare lol. This oil is pretty thick and you feel it on your face… as in, it takes a bit to soak in. At the same time I bought this, I bought the Skin reship oil as well. But I do have somewhat acne prone skin and I was too scared to use it, so gave it to a friend. The elixir has rosehip, but towards the middle of the ingredient list so it makes me feel better about using it. It has a ‘botanical’ smell and it’s nice- doesn’t clog my pores or anything wild. I will use it until finished but then move on I think. Although, I am impressed by the quality of the product considering the price!

Beaute Pacific Super Fruit Night Cream / here

I didn’t know night cream could be so good. This stuff is thick and delightful and a little bit truly goes a long way (if that helps justify the price tag!). The scent isn’t strong nor lovely but fine enough. Agh, it’s truly heaven. (gifted)

Laolips Coconutter Ointment / here

Lip balm for life… this is one of many on my bedside table but I was using this religiously in the cooler months.

Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream / here

I got this in a gift set in a Christmas sale… I tell you this because yeah it’s nice and it works but I wouldn’t pay $15 for it. Just some food for thought. It smells delish though.

Du’it Tough Hands For Her / here

My holy grail hand cream… it is actually that good. Who knew I would care about hand cream but I actually love this as the final step in my skincare routine. (gifted)

What’s your favourite product in your skincare routine? Tell me in the comments below!

Week Latte #26

ROLLY Mag

Happy Friday everyone!

This week I realised I forgot to post an October Editor’s Letter… my bad.

I feel like I can’t catch my breath at the moment… next thing on my blogging “to do” list is create Christmas gift guides! Oh my.

Be sure to show some love to the creators I’ve linked this week. Big love!

I honestly don’t get the Caramilk hype… but these cookies look delish.

I love things like this, “25 Uncomfortable Things…” Number 2 is especially poignant to me at the moment.

Melbournians… another new restaurant to try.

Ulta3 have a beautiful new launch which they kindly gifted me.. review to come!

@beauteiya

I found this in a random tab in my phone hah, but I love the Fox sisters and any DITL post!

A new “Blogging BTS” post went live this week… thank you so much for the support everyone!

Get you a man like this.

Obsessed with this purple look by Kenzie.

Similarly, Hannah created this freaking BOMB eyeshadow look. I’m in awe.

These coffee cup slings are just too cute.

This colourful, sparkly palette Jessica captured just speaks to me!

Loved this “get to know me” post by Hiuy… she’s so creative and clever with makeup too!

I really enjoyed- and could relate!- to this post by Victoria. I think the fun can sometimes be taken out of blogging by he external pressure (or internal!) to keep up a certain presence. I definitely felt tho in my early blogging days, but I learnt quickly that it is only me who creates my content so I should enjoy the process.

This book sounds like exactly what I need right now. Do you have any self help book recommendations? I’m ok, btw 😂 I’m just interested in personal development!

Blogging BTS #6 by All My Shitty Makeup

ROLLY Mag

Happy Wednesday! I am sooooooo excited to bring you another instalment of ‘Blogging BTS’, this time with Special K of @allmyshittymakeup (follower her here!)

One of the reasons I love this series so much, is you truly to get to know the blogger a little better- like how they make content decisions etc.

I really appreciate K’s honesty when it comes to working with brands as well as copying content… and I hope you do too!

Thank you so much for all of your fab responses, K! Enjoy!

How long have you been blogging/had your IG?

I’ve had my Insta since April this year. I was thinking of getting a blog for about a year, by that point with all my friends who I harassed with my unsolicited skincare advice telling me to start it. So, one April day when I was feeling especially miserable, I created “allmyshittymakeup” 😀

What was the first item you were ever ‘hashtag gifted’?

@Cipherskincare! Jenny was the one who reached out to me -when I didn’t even have 1k following – asking me to review her products. She offered me an entire range but I felt so bad that I’m such a small blogger, so I’ve picked just a few things 🙂 We’ve had a good relationship since and I keep promoting her products as they turned out to be one incredible skincare range!

Do you reach out to brands to collaborate? Or do you wait for them to approach you?

I’ve just reached out to a few brands this week for the first time. Got a few polite no\s and one harsh pretty much “FU” no, but it’s ok 🙂 I think if you feel like the brand is aligned with your blog theme and you can bring value, you can ask them to collaborate.

Have you ever reached out to a brand and received no response?

Nudieglow had a campaign when they were looking for mini fridge ambassadors and were asking to DM them. I had about 1.5k following and a media kit, so I reached out with a proper proposal with no avail. I mean, it’s cool to be left on read, but when a brand asks influencers to reach out and then doesn’t aknowledge them that’s a bit shitty.

Have you had a ‘pinch me’ blogging moment?

No, not really 😛

Can you think of a time when your following (as in, the number of followers you have) has ever disadvantaged or benefitted you?

I don’t think of it as a disadvantage, but the bigger following I get, the more important it is for me to research before posting. I don’t want to spread misinformation and this resulting in someone getting hurt because of my advice…

Who is your dream brand to collaborate with?

Laura Mercier! Oh God, I still cry about this powder that I bought and lost after 2 days of using! It’s such a beautiful makeup brand and I pretty much want all of their products.

Is it your goal to make blogging a full time job?

Not really, at leat not now. I love social media and beauty, so this is more of a creative outlet for me. Outside of my blog I have a pretty successful career in IT talent acquisition.

What’s one PR package you wish you received?

All those Mecca PR packages sent to “big dogs”. Mecca is my favourite beauty store in Australia and I’d love to be a part of their PR.

If someone said ‘what do you do?’ would you say ‘I’m a blogger?’ Why/why not?

I’d say that I’m a cat scheperd! Joking… I’d still say I’m a Talent Acquisition professional as that’s my career 🙂

Do you have an issue with the algorithm?

I didn’t even know Insta has an algorithm until recently… It doesn’t bother me too much. People that follow me for my content will engage with my posts anyway 🙂

What’s one condition you would never agree to with a gifted or sponsored post?

I would never recommend products that are potentially harmful. I also would not recommend any supplements/health shakes as everyone’s body is different and can react differently.

What is one of your conditions that a brand must agree to in order to collaborate with you?

They must agree to me writing an honest review. I know a lot of bloggers prefer not to write about the products they didn’t like, but I’m building a sort of online database of beauty and I think it’s important to talk about products that don’t work for you – even if they were gifted.

Have you ever had a negative experience with a brand?

Sukin 😀 Oh Lord, I started some beef… I have made a conscious decision not to purchase from the brand anymore, although I really like a lot of their products. When I saw their post about using minerals, not chemicals in skincare I was triggered. I hate fear-based marketing and sun protection is so important, that we should be encouraging consumers to use ANY sunscreen, not try to convince them that chemical sunscreens are “bad”.

For the sake of this question, we are calling you (and me!) an ‘influencer’ (or micro-influencer’) Can you give us just a general overview of your opinion on the whole ‘influencer’ space? Do you trust ‘influencers’ opinions?

We are influencers babe! I had so many people messaging me saying they’ve purchased something based on my review (or didn’t). I trust influencers, but not all of them. Some of the people I follow purely because of their blog aesthetic, but I don’t really care about their opinions as much, because they are so drowned in PR and praising every single new release, that at some point you start questioning their integrity.

Share the story of how you gained a gifted item? From the initial contact, to the post of the item etc. Was it smooth sailing?

Every time Cipher sends me products, Australia post finds a new way to screw it up 🙂 Why I love working with this brand is because every time we encountered shipping problems, Jenny made sure she checked with the post office and updated me. I also didn’t receive my first Subi beauty package (Australia post, you’re seriously shit), but Yesl sent me a second parcel without even questioning me! So I’d say it’s a bumpy road, but no major problems 🙂

Take us behind the camera, do you use natural or artificial light? Phone or DSLR? How do you edit pictures?

I have a $9 backdrop from Aliexpress that I put on my vanity next to a window. I have a small apartment, so my photo space, vanity and TV stand is the same thing 😀 I try to use natural light as much as possible, but I do film my stories with a ringlight. I use my phone to take pictures, I’m too lasy to do the whole “photoshoot and editing” thing. P_lus, it’s time consuming and I work full-time. I use VSCO filters and play around with light settings.

Are you fussy with your feed or do you just wing it? If you are particular and intentional, tell us about the planning process.

I post about whatever the hell I like! I don’t particularly plan my posts, just shoot a bunch of content on the weekend and then spread it around during the week. I try not to post about the same type of product consequently though, if I had a haircare post I’d try to do skincare/makeup/tutorial next.

You recently spoke about creators copying content… do you want to delve a little deeper? What did you see that made you speak out?

I was just annoyed as I’ve seen one girl pretty much copying @peachygoodskin old blog style. At the same time I saw one of my fellow bloggers having a heated discussion with @skincarebymoi who was using other blogger’s pictures and being very rude about it. (by the way, I’m totally in the name and shame team, I feel our community doesn’t do it enough in fear of being deemed “problematic”). I get my inspiration from other bloggers, but I still want my blog to represent me. It’s important. I didn’t start this to get free PR or to become popular like Kim Kardashian. So I don’t care about popular trends and blog styles, I want my blog to represent me. And it feels really discouraging when you see that other people blatantly copy your ideas, content, post style and even products they review.

Name three bloggers who admire and why

@peachygoodskin because she is always supportive, she is a conscious consumer and her feed is a work of art. She is also someone who doesn’t just write reviews for the sake of free PR. She sends packages back if she doesn’t feel that brand ideology aligns with hers. I admire it – it’s very easy to lose your morals when you get gifted a $100 item

@ms_hannah_e because her #todaysspf hashtag is important and she is doing such an amasing work of promoting good tanning behaviours (meaning – no tanning behaviours and drowning in SPF50). I also enjoy her feed style and raw, unedited, skin posts

@waveyhues because she is so small, yet she puts her best into creating meaningful beauty content and engaging with her audience. It is very easy to get discouraged when you don’t grow as quickly as others and I really respect her tenacity and dedication

Week Latte #25

ROLLY Mag

Hello friends!

How good is the Melbourne sunshine? Puts a spring in my step even if I’m inside working all day.

This week has been busyyyyyyyy and the month of October doesn’t look like irl be slowing down anytime soon.

Nonetheless, I’ll emotionally shop my way through it all ha!

Enjoy this week’s links.

Laura put the new Mecca Skin Tint to the test, and yep- like the rest of IG says- it’s divine! i picked up a sample for myself in store too.

A big congratulations to Daisy who is celebrating 4 years of her blog- Daisy Chain Daydreams! This post she published to mark the occasion is a beautiful trip down memory lane.

Frank Body announced the winner of their ‘Get it done with 10K’ campaign… and it is the wonderful Call Time on Melanoma. It honestly made me a bit emotional when I heard the news. The Aussie beauty community on IG has welcomed this campaign with open arms and everyone is doing their bit to spread the importance of SPF everyday. It’s super inspiring.

My Gap Year hasn’t been disappointing, just certainly not what I expected.

Caylie (who works at Tribe Skincare) wrote a really thoughtful piece on self-love this week.

Two reads from Emma which I loved this week: Imposter Syndrome – I feel this A LOT on Instagram and about failure – it was particularly raw to read this… failure is almost taboo.

Love these astrology phone cases by Jasmine.

Discovered @makeupbyjesi this week and am really loving her content.

@katiescosmopolitan shared @honeylovehandmade on her IG and I have been following their page ever since! Such a beautiful, girl boss business.

Forever adding to my TBR pile, Tamsien has suggested 11 books right up my alley; on letting go of perfection.

Really enjoyed reading Jess’ September Faves post.

Mini Lanolips face products are now at Mecca… cuteness overload!

More Lanolips loving by Marisa.

This. Touché.

I made this fried rice for my work lunches this week.

Now this, is art.

I love the idea of this subscription box captured by @beautyandlifestylehunter.

I have two Halloween parties to attend this year. This is my inspo…

I would just do my own hair in space buns… maybe add glitter?

I love the subtlety of this look by Gemma.

Subi kindly gifted me their pimple patches earlier in the year… and I loved them so much that I bought myself some more in their sale. Shop quickly!

This is playing on my mind lately. Love Gyan and MR – of course!

Thanks so much for reading everyone! Wishing you a happy weekend (especially if you work in retail like me haha!)

As always, be sure to share some cool content in the comments below!

September Favourites

ROLLY Mag

As I begin to write this, it is mid-September. But the only way I manage to product these posts on time by the end of the month, is by starting them early.

Cons of writing this mid-month, you forget to include some products in the shot. My bad. But I still love them, promise.

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon / here

I won this is Ree’s giveaway and when I first used it, I was shocked by the lack of ‘balm-i-ness’. Like, you wouldn’t think that Burt’s Bees, lip balm heroes, created this product. Despite, that it is not uncomfortable to wear, just not as moisturising as I hoped. The colour is really pretty and buildable. I got two compliments on this when I first wore it! I like this because it’s so low maintenance- can easily reapply without a mirror and I don’t have to worry that it might transfer onto my teeth like a lipstick might. Really loving this, and will definitely investigate the rest of the collection. But also, lol, forgot to include it in the picture I’m so sorry.

Mecca Max Sugar Queen Palette / here

Aka, Instagram’s most featured palette of the month! My bestie and I were on a shopping trip about a week before our birthday, and I showed her this. She asked me if I wanted it for my birthday and the rest is history! I love shiny things so I was instantly drawn to the shimmer shades. But when I used it for the first time, I realised it was actually the matte shades that I loved. I am seriously in love with it. And the massive mirror inside is such a bonus too. Really, $38 is very reasonable to pay for something such good quality.

IT Cosmetics CC Cream / here

Am I the last one to the party here? It really is *that* good. Comfortable, evens tone, dewy but not sweaty, well lasting. Love love love but the price tag is steeeeeep. I have tried the Chi Chi CC cream and didn’t love it as much. So I think I would repurchase this.

Flower Blush in ‘Sweet Pea’ / here

Guys, this is kinda revolutionary for me… because literally September is the first time I’ve used blush when doing my makeup. I was always scared of it because I have some redness on my cheeks and I thought it was highlight that. Well, I was wrong. This colour gives the perfect, subtle flush of colour that brings life to the face. It is so beautiful and such a steal at just $10. Highly recommend.

ELF Primer Infused Blush in ‘Always Cheeky’ / here

Yep, I went from no blush to two fave blushes in a month! This colour is a little more intense but if you’re light handed it is such a beautiful colour. It does have some impressive staying power as well.

Sukin Blemish Gel / here

One of my lovely followers recommended this product when I was on the hunt for a spot treatment. It gentle on the skin and I’ve found it to be effective… but I won’t say much more because I hope to do a dedicated post to the product. Do let me know if you have any questions though!

Palmers hand cream / here

Hand cream has been my beauty discovery of the year and I am absolutely loving it! This one smells delish and feels nourishing. Because the bottle is pretty too, I keep this one in my handbag, and my Du’it on my bedside. (Yeah, I’m one of those people with hand cream in their bag now #Adulting #levelUp)

Good Molecules Squalene Oil / here

Not sure if I’ve told you guys here, but I don’t actually use a day cream. But on mornings that I feel my skin needs a little extra nourishment I reach for this. It doesn’t sink into the skin very quickly, but it’s easy enough to work with once products are layered over the top.

So… fragrance / here

I used to have a whole collection of these fragrances when I was in primary school… so I experienced some serious nostalgia when I received this!

And for someone who doesn’t really pay much attention to fragrance, this brings my collection to # way to many for one person.

But, it’s the perfect everyday scent, and I like how it sits on my shelves.

Lanolips in Nectar / here

A new shade, I’m sure you’ve heard! I purchased this one as a GWP with this month’s Elle magazine. I hope you get your hands on one otherwise Mecca is your next bet. It’s a beautiful subtle coral colour and this tint is exactly how I like to wear my lip colour.

Medik8 Crystal Retinal 1 / here

I always thought that retinol was for those in their late 20s, to combat signs of ageing. However, listening to this Adore Beauty podcast episode with Daniel Isaacs, Chief Product Officer at Medik8, I learnt that there was actually a product for everyone! I’ve been using this serum for the past two weeks, and have used 4 times in total. I’m really enjoying it so far. It’s an entry level retinol product, perfect for me at 19, and also my skin. Yes, it’s pricey, but it is goooood and you don’t need much nor to use it often. Definitely something I will purchase myself.

Beach Way Aromatics Midnight Silk Mask / here

Beach Way is a relatively new discovery of mine… but I’ve already made two orders from them in one week!

This mask is really lovely and nourishing, and the packing is so luxe!

Oh oh oh! And it’s an Aussie boss mama business. Too good not to support! I have a discount for them in my Discount Directory!

Garnier Hair Mask / couldn’t find this in Aus!

I’m usually too lazy to use a hair mask, but I received this in my September Bella Box and used it a handful of times. It makes my hair feel nice so I’m enjoying it. But I’ll be honest, it’s not something I’d repurchase- simply because hair products aren’t my priority.

Not beauty, but…

The Princess Saves Herself In This One – Amanda Lovelace

One of my other besties gifted this to me for my birthday and I fell absolutely in love with the title. It’s my new life motto. Not joking. The book hasn’t received amazing reviews online, mainly pointing out the fact that

Writing

Like this

Does not make

It poetry.

But I love it. I think this book came into my life when I needed it, and I have found a lot of peace within it. Not necessarily with the story itself, but the way in which the story is told.

Week Latte #24

ROLLY Mag

Hi lovely people!

Another Friday is here!

It’s a public holiday in Melbs for the AFL Grand Final today! Are you planning on watching the big game?

Personally, I will be practising my best “oh wow so interested” face for my friends when they tell me all the details I don’t care for ha!

It’s actually been a veryyyyyy big week for me personally. Just a reminder that social media is a highlight reel!

This is such a thoughtful piece.

This website, Year 13, was practically my bible in Year 12. I still really enjoy their pieces, like this.

Taylor Swift continues to deliver. Whether you love her or hate her, I can bet you don’t actually know her? Her Rolling Stones article is a fab read if you’re interested.

I take astrology advice with a grain of salt, but I think this particular Libra season could have potential benefits for everyone in terms of reflection.

Are the Jonas family taking membership applications?

HSM is life. This is just too much 😂

This was such an insightful read by Mamamia. I’m too scared to add up how much I spend on skincare 😅

Beauticate did a fabulous feature on Aussie brands, including my faves, Maarks Lip!

I simply adore this photo from Amy this week that she posted on the gram. Those Flower brushes, that Clinique palette… heaven! Follow @bottledbeautyblog here.

An entire doco about puppies!? Say no more!

Melbourne friends, this looks incredible!

*Adds to mountain high TBR* And these books as snapped by Daisy. The dreamiest situation… hope my weekend looks a bit like this!

Priceline is on sale!! Use my ShopBack referral code for $5 straight to your account and 2.8% cash back at Priceline- woo!

This is what I bought:

Week Latte #23

ROLLY Mag

Happy Friday, my friends!

Hope you have all had a fabulous week. Or you have an exciting/restful weekend ahead.

I sent out a few more “random acts of kindness” packages this week. It feel so good to give back to my amazing IG community.

I have also received some very generous PR this week.

Mavala gifted me their new eye liners and Medik8 gifted their Retinal 1 serum. Very grateful!

I’ll keep you updated on how I get along with them.

As always, if you’ve read/listened to/seen/created some cool content, let us know in the comments below.

I’m really proud of some of my own content this week! I created a “Discount Directory”! You all know I’m a bargain hunter, so wanted somewhere to collate all of the bargains I’d found. It will be continuously updated so make sure you check in regularly.

If you know a brand or a blogger who has a discount code, let me know and I will be sure to add it!

But I do recommend also keeping an eye on my IG for time sensitive discount codes because they won’t be added to the directory!

Read it here.

An insightful read. Everyone has their own remedy to “the voice in their head” but it’s always nice to read you’re not alone.

I used to ready Carly’s blog all the time but only recently stumbled back upon it. I love this style of post.

As an aspiring writer, I’m definitely keen to explore this website a bit more!

Kayla is such a girl boss! Read more about her business ventures here!

Tamsien was on her first podcast! Listen here.

On IG, I follow beauty pages, and money pages. Lol. What a paradox. One of my faves is Bec from @debtfreemillennial and her blog here.

Oops, I lie! I also follow Bookstagrammers. I discovered @lizzreads this week and have added this book to my TBR pile. Read the review here.

@sensitiveskingal has a free shipping guide in her blog for us Aussies! She actually inspired me to start my Discount Directory. Find it here (it’s also liked on my DD page!)

@allmyshittymakeup shared this and wow. A whole mood.

These epic acne positive shirts are now available for pre sale!

I listened to Adore Beauty’s podcast for the first time this week. It’s a lot of fun and I really enjoy learning about beauty. This is actually how I learnt about Medik8, and from their got in touch with the brand! https://www.instagram.com/

Full face of first impressions #3

ROLLY Mag

Well, wasn’t this experience just *something*?!

Let me talk you through it. I don’t know when this post will be going live but basically, when I sat down to make a play with my makeup, I was one week out from my 19th birthday party.

I wanted to try out some new products to see if they made the cut for my ‘birthday makeup’.

I usually do my makeup in my room which doesn’t see much natural light. Today, however, I did it at our kitchen table with my back to very expansive windows.

I don’t know if I was just having a bad skin day or it was the fact that all my pores and flaws were magnified in the sun, because sheesh applying makeup and getting it to look decent was a CHALLENGE!

Cinch Face Cheater / here

Bought this in the last Priceline skincare sale because I’d heard about it on IG and was intrigued (my excuse for every single purchase lololol). I put it on and the actual product was a lovely pearlescent shiny colour and, it did make my face “glow”. But it wasn’t the nicest base for makeup- not overly moisturising or anything. I had high expectations because Cortney said it made her look like a disco ball.

Innoxa Anti Ageing Life and Firm Foundation / here

Two things that may contribute to my dislike of this product- it’s colour and my application. I’m quite pale, and this looked like good match, but the yellow undertones were intense. It got stuck in my hairline and was like bad fake tan – ooft. I used a dense oval brush to apply it, which I’ve never used before. Maybe that wasn’t effective? I wasn’t vibing it, but I soldiered on.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion / here

I used the Australis eye primer and like it, but I did really notice a difference with this one. It was lovely! I can’t explain the difference, though- sorry about that. I just liked it ok.

W7 Glowcomotion Pink it up / here

I’ve heard great things about this highlighter, and when i tried it on the back of my hand it was beautiful. So I applied it liberally to my cheek bones. Ekkk. It’s very pink. Which is cool, but I prefer a champagne highlight. And I found it really hard to blend out (in my attempt to soften the pigment.)

It was at this point that I threw in the towel and was like, ‘nope I can not do this’. I rummaged around for some other makeup bits, wiped off the face I had on, and started again.

Hylamide Pore Delete / here

There is a reason you should ‘always read the label.’ Shame I didn’t for this product. I used it as my first step and as I applied thought ‘omg it’s making my pores worse!’ As it settled down I noticed a slight reduction… it may be more effective if you use it as recommended (face palm)- AFTER liquid foundation or as the last step in your skin care routine. Ah fun. (I bought this for $5 on clearance at my local Priceline. Please do not pay $22 for it.)

Then I went back in with the Cinch.

Revlon Colourstay Foundation Combination/Oily SPF15 / here

This has SPF15, which I was unaware of. The whole point of me trying this makeup was because I wanted to find my perfect party foundation without SPF. Some days, my brain fails to notice details like this. Sigh. Still wasn’t loving it, but applied with my fingers and that was much more successful than the previous foundation. After I had finished my makeup, and looked at myself in artificial light, I was liking the look a whole lot more than fresh faced in the sun. Also, has this been discontinued? It was shard to find online.

Revlon Candid Concealer in Banana / here

Yo this stuff is THICK! Yes it brightened but I found it realllllly hard to blend out so I would be scared to try again with an actual concealing colour.

Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder / here

After struggling to open the lid for way too long, I opened this and used it under my eyes. OMG, I get the hype. It is lovely and velvety and agh. Yes to this. One of my standout faves from an otherwise unsuccessful makeup session.

Now I remembered that I’d forgotten to reapply my Urban Decay since wiping my previous makeup off. I tried and I still liked it, but it was a whole lot harder with foundation and concealer already on my eyes.

NYX Away We Glow / here (not exactly the same but similar!)

Tried to use this as a bronzer, unsuccessful. Does have a really nice sheen to the pigment, but it not very pigmented, if that makes sense. I think I will try and reuse this as an eyeshadow and it will be much more successful.

Colourpop Pretty Much / unavailable as it was limited edition – sorry!

This is my first ever Colourpop product, and I actually won it in a giveaway. I used the matte shade ‘cool it’ all over my lid and then used the W7 highlight on my inner corder and half way across the lid. My crease was a bit messy but i liked this combo. I can’t wait to experiment with the shimmers in this palette.

Rimmel Wonder’luxe Volume Mascara/ here

Wasn’t expecting the wand to be so thin, but I did enjoy using this. Was lengthening but I did find it quite clumpy, and had some fall out by the end of a 9 hour day.

Full Brow Brow Fibre / here

Alongside the Maybelline powder, this product and the next two were standouts for me. I have the shade Light Blonde which is perfect for me- and doesn’t have the reddish undertone a lot of blonde brow products tend to have. The consistency wasn’t thick or gluggy, and you didn’t have to wipe too much excess off the wand before use (This is an issue with other brow mascaras I’ve tried). And omg, it lasted agesssssss. So much love for this product.

Essence Plumping Nudes Lip Gloss in 04 That’s Big / here

Love a lip gloss and am always curious about ‘plumping’ promises. This shade appears pinky but on the lips it’s more nude. I felt a slight tingle but nothing really very noticeable. Really enjoyed the colour, look and feel but the only negative to this product (apart from it’s false promise at plumping which actually doesn’t bother me) is that it is not long lasting at all.

MAC Fix +Setting Spray in White Tea / here

The smell, you guys. Heaven. Hard to say if this product made my makeup stay put, or if it were the products themselves, but I was happy with the wear time of my look. Also, shocked with the intense spray of this product, it wasn’t a light mist at all. Still, I liked it and it smelt amazing. Andddd it’s cute and tiny. I like!
