The No Buy Wishlist

ROLLY Mag, Tick it off Tuesday

During the month of February, I am doing a “no buy”… ie. no shopping for the entire month! It’s a struggle, for a bargain hunter and shopaholic like me. Anddddd there are plenty of distractions this month too- Valentine’s Day, brothers birthday, back to work, back to uni etc etc. Usually, those occasions would call for some shopping- but having to restrict myself is hard when the opportunity is so tempting. To clarify, I can shop for other people during this no buy- like my brother for his birthday- just not for myself.

However, there are a few items I currently have my eye on- and if they were to go on sale during this time- I would STRUGGLE to say no.

I was going to call this post “no buy exceptions” as I had two items in mind that I really wanted. But then, the list grew. And suddenly we ended up here- and exceptions are not in the rules so here this is a wishlist instead.

You may have seen in my Organisation Haul that I was conflicted as to which Typo pencil case to buy… still am.

Next up, this gorgeously soft Kmart dressing gown… it has a hood, you guys, therefore- I need it.

You know how I am using uni as an excuse for many of my recent shopping habits- this face mask is no exception. I am going to be in the city more therefore I NEED an anti pollution face mask. (Update… bought it in the Priceline sale… on the final day of January!)

Similarly, if my face ever tinted lip balm goes on sale, how do I say no?

I have been eyeing up this Forever New tote for a while, as I don’t have anything like it. The price is just a bit scary.

And then there’s this Sportsgirl bag, which- BTW- is totally different to the one above. Also scary price. Impatiently waiting for the sale.

That’s the thing with me and shopping- I want and want and want. I create Wishlist and then I buy the things- thinking that’s all I’ll ever need- then the next thing comes out and once again the vicious cycle continues. Which is why, it’s so important I challenge myself to the “no buy”. I’ve recognised my bad habits (step 1), now I just have to overcome them.

I’ll keep you updated πŸ˜‰

How’s your “no buy” going? Let me know in the comments!

Kmart Haul (In the name of organisation)

ROLLY Mag

Imagine a 44 degree day in Melbourne… hot as heck, with evaporative cooling (πŸ‘Ž). What springs to mind to do on such a day? Why, organise EVERYTHING- of course.

This was me on Friday… so, naturally, my first step was to visit Kmart! Bless my bestie who put up with me and all my indecisiveness. It was intense.

So I have been itching to organise my makeup storage… it currently resides in random places with no rhyme or reason. I have one acrylic storage station that holds my “everyday” items… but that’s about it! I really wanted something that was easy to see, and looked tidy.

So I got a black wire shelving unit that is designed to be hung on a wall, but will rest atop my dresser. Sadly I could not find an image online, but would you be interested in a beauty-station tour? Let me know!

Next up, I got this “file organiser” to hold palettes and such.

I also then went back to Kmart the day after the bulk of these items were bought… because I NEEDED the matching drawers. I have my lip products and brushes in here. I had bought a small, clear (& ugly) two drawer system for this purpose… but for aesthetic reasons I repurposed that to hold my earrings and then be hidden within my dresser!

I initially got these drawers in the black for the study- they’re perfect because they fit scissors too! So everything is hidden away nicely. However, I repurposed them in my room for extra beauty storage and now my acrylic storage is for stationary!

I also got this pencil case… because #uni (it’s my excuse for EVERYTHING). If you look closely you’ll see the circle imprints on it. I love it, it was $3… but I’ve found two others I love from Typo also so I’m thinking… do I get one of them?? Help.

I also got some pretty pens for above pencil case and, again, uni.

I also got these pretty pins for my mood board… currently in progress.

More makeup storage!

And the finally, this calendar/planner that I am going to use for blog posts!

Summer bucket list

ROLLY Mag

Here in Australia, we are experiencing summer- which is definitely my favourite season! For one, there is always so much on to see and do. However, as summer comes to an end in just over a month and my β€œholidays” will likely be rudely interrupted by work commitments (πŸ˜…) I thought it would be fun to share my summer bucket list with you all!

Any other recommendations for Melbourne in the summertime- please comment below!

@melbournegirl is my fave for Melbourne to-dos year round, so if you need more inspiration check out Emily’s blog & IG!

Do:

1. Nelson Mandela Exhibition at the Museum

2. Vic Market Night Market

3. Pixar Putt Mini Golf at Fed Square

4. Outdoor cinema

5. Visit Muji & IKEA (for makeup storage- not particularly summery, but a fun outing nonetheless πŸ˜…)

Eat:

1. Arbory Afloat

2. Pony Fish

3. King & Godfree

This will probably be something I add to as the year goes on, but these are some starting points.

Thanks for reading!
