Massive Black Friday Haul 2020

AND I MEAN MASSIVE!

I had been saving up to go BIG at this Black Friday, and I think I went bigger than I imagined! 

I plan on picking up a few more beauty bits at Boxing Day (hopefully just Colourpop and Hourglass… ) and then I will be on a STRICT low buy. I’m thinking of making a monthly budget for beauty products? I’m not really sure how best to do it but you will for sure come along for the ride! 

I wanted to document all the purchases in one spot… so here we go😜

Beauty Bay

Milani Luminoso 

This seems near impossible to get your hands on through Aussie sites like Priceline and Glam Raider, so I said enough is enough! Serious FOMO influenced this purchase. 

Milani Sun SIlk Bronzer

Allie Glines and @mummakesitup are big fans of this so naturally, i must try it too! 

Embryolisse Moisturiser 

The cool girl moisturiser, also hard to get your hands on in Aus. I got a mini because I am hashtag responsible and figured I have so many others, getting a smaller size is a good way for me to try it out 

Sephora

Round one! This was during the 15-20% sitewide. I was super impressed, I order this on Thursday and it arrived on Monday! 

Laneige Cream Skin 

I love the mist SO much that I got the OG to pour into the mist bottle eventually. 

Laneige Day and Night Skincare Kit 

Heard great things about both of these, and it was good value. 

Marc Jacobs Eyeshadow Palette in Cherrific 

The packaging got me on this one… that’s all. 

Marc Jacobs Luminizer Cherry Edition 

Again, THE PACKAGING!!!!

@i_shall_shop and @beauty_withlauren are fans so of course, I had to give it a go. In the mini! 

Round two! Cyber Monday Sale Purchases.

Zoeva 128 Cream Cheek Brush

This brush is always sold out, maybe because @elizabeth.makeup.artist made it famous. It was 30% off so I snapped it up real quick! 

Nudestix Set Daydreamer Face Palette 

This was the first set my Nudestix I ever really looked into. The price just scared me off. Until it was 50% in this sale. I could not believe it. I was on my 10 minute break at work when I made this purchase and let me tell you I moved quickly! 

Basics by B 

I got the new Face Palette 2.0 and brush bundle. I should never have to buy brushes again! lol. I already have the first palette, but wanted to try these cooler tones. This arrived super quickly too, on the Monday after I purchased. 

Cipher Skincare

I picked up the limited edition mini stack pack. I’ve already tried C Shield and BLAH, so happy to have restocks and newbies to try. 

Etymology 

@amandascuteface and @harpersglow have both shared their love for this foundation, and I’m excited to try it. I’m also excited to support a small Aussie business, who are working on expanding their shade range. 

TBH Skincare

@minniesmakeup and @beautybyhiuy made me do it! I ended up getting the OG bundle, even though the new cleanser probably appeals to me more. I did it from a value POV but am happy to try the gel cleanser in the future if these work for me. 

Mac

@byamygee made me do it! Although she’ll probably tell you I was the bad influence… why, me? Never! 😉 

I got another shade in the Glow Play blushes, this time Grand (to add to my That’s Peachy and Blush, Please collection.) 

I also got Face and Body in N1 to try because C1 (which I got from Amuse) is a bit too yellow undertone for me. However, they only had the mega 120ml bottles left in stock so here’s praying I do like it lol. 

Shot of Colour Lip Oil in Punch-Drunk Love – okay Amy can’t even deny this one, she influenced this purchase fair and square! 

And their BF GWP was a Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze. Intrigued! Strobe Cream in Pinklite was the complementary sample too.

I love the face oils but decided to try the new candle in the Tennis Party scent this sale.

Boost Lab

I’ve seen this brand all over my feed so I decided to give them a go. I was impressed that all their products are $29.95, and their BF sale was SO good, being ‘buy one get one free’ plus free shipping. So I got the niacinamide and retinol serums. 

Chemist Warehouse

I got restocks of the Flower Beauty blush and eyeshadow brushes. Also managed to track down the Flower cream blushes in both shades. Also found a new L’oreal lippie which gave me EM Cosmetics vibes except in a matte formula. A few days later I also picked up the new Bondi Sands face spf.

Cult Beauty 

Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush in Sublime Flush 

I really don’t plan on supporting Hourglass much until they can show shade diversity. So this blush and hopefully their holiday palette (when I eventually buy it) will be the extent of my collection. This blush is described as a soft pink infused with lilac which is basically me as a blush shade so I am all here for it. 

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation in Fair 2 

I pray this shade suits me (it’s the same shade that @elizabeth.makeup.artist and Jessica Braun wear) because it sounds like the glowy foundation of my dreams. Hope I don’t like it too much though because she ain’t cheap lol! 

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Secrets Set 

A great value mini bundle (the lipstick is full size)! Are you seeing the theme that I am justifying purchase when they’re minis? Oops. 

The Inkey List Niacinamide

In hindsight, I wish I didn’t buy this because I later got the Boost Lab one, but anyways we will give it a go! I’m loving The Ordinary’s right now. 

Morphe

Technically this wasn’t a BF purchase, but it was like a week before so I feel like it deserves a place in this haul anyways. 

Shine Lip Crayon in ROFL 

Hoping this can be a Coloupop Just a Tint dupe because they are so hard to get your hands on right now! 

The Sweep Life Brush Collection 

Got this mainly for the blush brush that @elizabeth.makeup.artist loves. 

L-Balm Lip Balm in Feeling Rosy 

This looks cute and practical for a work bag. 

Gleamcatcher Illuminator in Moonbeam 

Planning to compare this to the Nudestix liquid highlight…. 

Morphe x Maddie Ziegler Peach That Pops Lip and Cheek Duo 

@sensitiveskingal loves this lip oil so I of course had to try! This combo is cute too. 

Priceline 

Another super quick delivery, it arrived the Monday after I purchased! However, I received a second box from Priceline addressed to me and so I opened it and inside was someone else’s order and their packing slip. I called Priceline about this, and they emailed me a return slip which I had to put back on the box and return to the post office. I was happy to do this because I felt bad for the person who ordered it in the first place, but I was disappointed with Priceline’s lack of compensation for me. Like not even a $5 voucher lol? 

I Heart Revolution Bronze and Glow 

I bought this purely to see if it is comparable to the Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer and Glow! 

Ecotools Ultimate Sheer Brush 

Jessica Braun and Tanika Jaun are big fans of this for cream products. 

Real Techniques Light Layer Highlight Brush 

I also managed to pick up the bronzer brush from this range in store, but no luck getting the blush one – the one I wanted the most!

Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil

I love this formula so excited to try the new shades! 

Savvy By Db Mineral Baked Highlighter 

This is a @katiescosmpolitan recommendation! I’m pretty sure I remember her saying it is a MAC soft and gentle dupe…

Revlon ColorStay Brow Fiber Filler 

Always keen to try a new clear brow gel, and this brush looks a unique. 

Burt’s Bees Lip Treatment Overnight Intensive Blister Box 

I talked myself out of buying the Colourpop and Revolution Skincare lip masks, but figured I could make room for this affordable Aussie option. 

Revlon Powder Blush in Just Peachy 

I saw these in stores and they said ‘new shade’ on the packaging but @icxbeauty has had this shade in her collection for a few months now. It looks so pretty and glowy! 

Revlon Powder Blush in Hot Cheeks 

This is apparently a new shade too! I ordered it because it look like it has NARS vibes, maybe Dominatrix or Orgasm X??

Maybelline Nudes Of New York Eyeshadow Palette

Ever since I saw @madelineedwards do this look, I wanted this palette. The neutral, earthy tones are unique to my collection so we will see how we go. Reading @emmiesbeautylife’s BF recommendations blog post actually reminded me to buy it haha.

Colourpop Sale Haul – October 2020 (& Recommendations)

I had been anticipating making a ColourPop order at Black Friday, but they announced a 25% off sale in late October and so I decided to jump on and buy a few things in the meantime. I hope to also buy some things come November, but am waiting on stock.

Lip Tint in Shade A Go Go

There were only two shades in stock on the website and this is the one I don’t have out of them. This formula is heavenly, but has a strong peachy scent (I like it but it might be overwhelming for others?) I really hope the full range is restocked.

Luxe Lip Oil in Shade Skinny Dip

These were high on my wishlist and I very easily could’ve purchased the full set of 5 but I thought that may be excessive? Lol I hate when I’m reasonable! 

Lux Gloss in Shades Dream Queen and Figgy With It

Another item high on my wishlist was this gloss. I actually wanted to buy the entire mauve collection, but once again, my good old logic came back to play and I just purchased one shade from this collection. 

Mauve collection blushes in Catch My Vibe

As I said above, I wanted the whole collection. But I figured, I have the Flutterby palette (sitting untouched mind you) so I didn’t need another mauve palette. I did want to pick up both blushes from this collection but only one was in stock. Allie Glines and Juudy both made such a good case for both shades so I’ll definitely be picking up Coast to Coast when I can. 

Wild Nothing Palette

This palette really excited me when it launched, so I was very pleased that I was able to get it when it was in stock. I have nothing like this in my collection so am excited to play! 

Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturiser in 4N MINI

I had done extensive research to find a shade that would suit me, and ended up choosing 4N because that’s what @maddies.makeupmess wears too (I think, lol? Or maybe it was Jessica Braun. Either way, Maddie has been very influential in my CP purchases hah!) Just before the sale, they released mini sizes making it much less scary to commit to a shade. I’m so glad they’ve done this, it is also available in the pretty fresh primer and mist (the mist is amazing, would recommend) 

Coral Collection Blush 

SIKE! It was out of stock… pleaseeeee be available at Black Friday.

I’m not sure if this coral tone will really suit my fair skin but I’m excited to try. I love this compact and honestly that’s what draws me to it the most. 

Clear Brow Gel

Because the coral blush was out of stock, I had to bulk up my cart with other products to reach free shipping over $60USD. So I added this. I’ve heard good things, and you always need clear brow gel, right?

Liquid Illuminator in Soft Ivory

Who knows how this will go but I’m excited nonetheless. I don’t own anything like this (does MAC Strobe Scream count?) so will have to have a play with how I like to apply it. Mixed with foundation? On top of foundation as highlight?

Wishlist:

  • Face mask mini set: mainly for the aesthetic, I won’t lie
  • Lip tints: for some reason these haven’t restocked in a really long time and it makes me SO sad because this formula is just heaven
  • Pretty Fresh Foundation: I’m hoping this order arrives before Black Friday so I can test the TM for a shade match and then buy the foundation, but otherwise I’ll probably just bite the bullet and get it. It looks so pretty! Maybe even the concealer if I’m feeling crazy.

Things to note

I have ordered from Colourpop twice in the past (or three times, I can’t remember?)

The first time, it arrived in like three weeks which was equally incredible as it was shocking. I mentally prepared for a long wait time.

The second time I ordered, it arrived in about four weeks, but half my order was missing. Excuse me what???

It was relatively easy to follow up with Colourpop and they sent out my missing items. But like how does that even happen? It wasn’t just one item… it was like 10!!!

Anyways it was resolved easily, but I’m always cautious now.

Also, always add a few extra dollars onto what you think your total will be.

I used a USD to AUD convertor on Google, but my bank must use a different one. I thought I would be paying $100 AUD but it was atcually about $106 AUD.

The OFFICIAL best and worst of @colourpopcosmetics ✨ – I’ve tried my fair share of colourpop, enough, that I believe I can put together a list of my hits and misses. – ✨Best✨ – pressed matte eyeshadows: these are god tier, up there with ABH shadows, so many options that you couldn’t possibly not find a palette for you. – super shock shadows: also god tier, I really think cp paved the way for many brands to release shadows like this….for a much heftier price range. – brow boss gel: she thicccc, holds my brows all day and comes in clear, and is $6USD each. Unbeatable – lip liners: excellent, creamy, cheap, great range of colours. – super shock highlighters: absolute blinding goodness – powder blushes: just the right amount of pigment, I love that you can make palettes out of them or put them in a single pan, great range of shades. – no filter concealer: not cakey or drying, great coverage, a little goes a long way, super affordable option! – Worst 😗✌🏻 – bullet lipsticks and liquid lipsticks: they’re. so. drying. Like prison for your lips – mascara: it dries out so fast! And it’s really clumpy and flakey, there are much better drugstore options. – pressed powder bronzer: waaaay too pigmented for a bronzer and shades are kind of ashy – no filter foundation: very drying, a little cakey. Pretty fresh is much better however not good enough to make my best list haha. – Okay! So comment below your favourite and least favourite product from @colourpopcosmetics 🥰

A @colourpopcosmetics foundation and faux freckle moment ✨✨ I’m really enjoying playing around with the freckle pen! I naturally have a lot of freckles across my nose so it’s been fun to add them back in over foundation. I’ve also really been enjoying the Pretty Fresh Foundation. It has a pump bottle and is such a great compact size. I love the medium to full coverage it gives without looking cakey at all. The finish is a satin/ natural one on my skin and I really love that. It applies well with a brush or a sponge and works well with or without a primer 😍😍 if you are looking for a new and affordable foundation I would definitely recommend you guys give this one a try! I use the shades 20N and 25W mixed together and it’s the perfect shade combination! Have you guys tried this foundation? What are your thoughts? @maddies.makeupmess

Throwback… Tuesday? To the best purchase I've ever made from @colourpopcosmetics 😍 Swipe for some more pictures! ➡️ • • It was the prettiest holiday collection of 2018 for sure! I to this day still use the box as decor in my room!👌 Still lowkey waiting for Colourpop to do another one of these or do one that is all old favourote discontinued shades!
