Brain dump

Last week I was the most productive I’ve been in a long time. Shit was getting done. I also quit one of my jobs and taught my first body pump class… it’s all happening.

But today I feel a bit blah so let’s just get to the fun stuff shall we ๐Ÿ˜‰

Content I enjoyed

Top Athletes Get Real About Their Periods (side note: I have these Modibodi bathers on my wish list!)

Start Blaming Single Men, Right Now – when I first read this, I thought it sounded a bit intense. But then I thought, it also sounds true. Intense maybe because it has totally flipped the narrative. I’m so intrigued, and I’m so here for it.

Something I’d recommend

Experiment with Reels on Instagram!
I am so upset about the new IG app, but I’m trying to play ball and make more video content on IG because obviously that’s what it is preferenced over static posts (by the algorithm). I’m hoping to make a reels series of me applying spf in real (reel?!) time.

Take care, friends xx

THE WEEK LATTE NEWSLETTER #10

Brain dump…

Hey friends! We are back on the Monday posting grind – woo! I published the newsletter mid week last week, because better late than never, right?

Not gonna lie, friends, I have a LOT on my plate right now. And a lot of decisions to make. I am overwhelmed. But I’m going to Cairns in late June and honestly if I can get there in one piece, I’ll know I survived this next period of CHAOS pretty well. Keen. Lots of to do lists and pros/cons lists to make in the meantime lol.

Content I enjoyed…

So Harry Styles released his album recently and I’m not one to listen to an album the whole way through. I used to be, back in my peak fangirl days, but I’m much more a fan of shuffle in recent times. And yet, Sir Styles had me listening tot he album from start to finish on the day it was released. I love it. That’s the start and end of it.

Minnie is such a kind soul, and her content truly reflects that. This was amazing to read, so refreshing!

As a recovering perfectionist, I love this kind of content!

Zara from the Shameless podcast recommended this read and it is so fabulous, such great perspective – the worst career advice.

Something I’d recommend…

Do something alone!
During lockdown, I found an absolute LOVE for eating out alone. There’s a particular cafe near me that lends itself very nicely to a solo lunch date. I adore it. But last week, my friend could no longer come with me to the LANY concert and I really considered not going myself.

But I went, alone. Spoiler: the universe really looked after me.

You can see how it went here….

Take care, friends xx

THE WEEK LATTE NEWSLETTER #9

Brain dump…

So, I took a break from the blog. Among other things, I got covid. It was a rough time.

But I am slowly on the mend.

Lots of chat to come about my 3 day trip to Sydney also, so let’s do it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Content I enjoyed…

I want to do something MORE with ROLLY Mag but 1) I’m not sure what and 2) I’m scared. Mainly of what people will think of me… which is silly I know but, nonetheless… However, my girl crush right now Lucy shared this video of Queen ZFB giving some pretty powerful advice… It might just be the advice that changes everything!!!

I found all the MET coverage overwhelming to be honest, but these are my two fave pieces of content to come from it:

Emma Chamberlain and Jack Harlow… a dream!

And this makeup… perfection!

Dreaming about a bedspread situation like this!

Plisse is everything right now and I am here! for! it!

Obsessed with this entirely drugstore look!

Something I’d recommend…

Going to Sydney! I loved playing tourist on a quick 3 day weekend trip. We jammed so much into our days, but there’s still things I would love to go back and do. I shared some vlogs of the trip on Instagram, but I’m always happy to answer questions or provide some more info if you need โค

Wearing my new Miki Beads lanyard and Coequa earrings

Brain dump…

I was saying last week I was not looking forward to uni starting back on campus, but guess what lol… I kinda love it!
I haven’t quite got into the swing of it yet as I am catching car rides rather than public transport but it’s FUN to wear real clothes and get takeaway food. And I have seen some awesome sunrises.

It’s not my fave thing ever but it’s truly not the worst… so that’s been a pleasant surprise to not hate it.

Content I enjoyed…

I have had both of these on my wish list for a while, so was very grateful to read this review!

I’ll just leave this here…

Something I’d recommend…

Over the weekend I started my training to become a Body Pump instructor. It was so fun but tiring. It was my first time EVER doing anything like that. And after my second presentation, I was feeling pretty defeated and disappointed in myself. despite being happy with my first presentation mind you.

But then I was reminded of two things (side note: I got external reminders… I really need to work on making this internal!!)

  1. It is fun! Not just Body Pump, but life!!!
  2. These skills (of learning choreo, teaching and presenting on stage etc) are entirely new to me. How can I expect myself to be an expert on the first day of learning something??? I am trying to be kind to myself as I encounter new things – and I encourage you to do the same.

Take care, friends xx

THE WEEK LATTE NEWSLETTER #7

the week latte newsletter

So there was no newsletter last week… for the simple fact that I forgot to press publish… AGH! So a bumper-ish edition today. I feel like I’m just in survival mode right now- I’ve been house sitting which has put me way out of routine and I’m just sort of getting by without my home comforts. And all these public holidays have been a confusing my routine too. But as of tonight, I’m back in my own bed – yipee! About to start a new routine with uni starting on campus as of tomorrow. Trying to make the most of it but I am not excited for pre-6am starts and public transport…

The glorious sun rises I was waking up to whilst house sitting.

Brain dump…

Sephora has a sale, and whilst I didn’t check out… I had a mighty long wish list.

Content I enjoyed…

Melissa Long on learning to treat people with more empathy (drawing on what I was talking about in last week’s newsletter!)

Drooling just reading about all of these Melbourne eateries!

Is tumbled upon these two posts that really resonated with me…

Two books I’ll buy eventually when my current TBR gets a bit shorter…

Something I’d recommend…

This isn’t even a recommendation, this is an order… you need to watch Little Women on Netflix. It is just a masterpiece. So lovely to watch, visually, and such a great story. I read it as a child so didn’t have much memory about the sequence of events. It was just cosy. Adore.

I also watched a lot of Disney+. How I Met Your Father, Only Murderers In The Building, Encanto and Turning Red were all glorious. Highly recommend.

The foundation I am wearing above needs to be shared… it is the Loreal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum. I have only a little bit on here, but it is perfect for applying with fingers for very buildable coverage and a beautiful satin finish. Such a winner. Buy it on sale though ๐Ÿ˜‰

Last week, I went to see a talk by The Resilience Project. It was my first time really getting to know the brand/initiative/movement (whatever you call it haha!) and I was so impressed. My key takeaways were the tips to finding happiness; gratitude, empathy and mindfulness.

I really encourage you to have a look into TRP yourself and see what you can get out of it. They have books and a podcast so lots of content to enjoy.

I am training to become a Body Pump instructor and I think I will draw upon a lot of mindfulness tips in my teaching.

Content I enjoyed…

People pleasing and capitalism go hand in hand, I find. I’m currently trying to mend my relationship with both. And so, it was comforting to read this; death to people pleasing.

A yummy chocolate cake recipe!

I watched Fabulous Hannah’s newest vlog (after not watching her for a while, no reason just Tik Tok took over hahah) and it was so comforting and cosy.

Something I’d recommend…

In the spirit of TRP I chatted about above, I’m sharing one of the tips for incorporating gratitude into your life. At the end of each day, write down three things that went well for you. Not three things your grateful for, not three amazing things… The idea of this exercise is to train your brain to see the positives. Even if you didn’t have a great day. And this way you are likely to find different things every day and it won’t be receptive and boring like listing three things you’re grateful or could be.

THE WEEK LATTE NEWSLETTER #5

Brain dump…

I finally got to see Hamilton in Melbourne on Sunday. I had originally booked tickets in 2020 to see it in Sydney in 2021. It got rescheduled twice, and then it left Sydney lol. So instead we saw it at home in Melbs. (But we still have a trip to Sydney in the works because our hotel wouldn’t let us cancel :/)

I think I had really high expectations… because I was slightly underwhoemed. That is not to say it wasn’t magic, because it was. But it wasn’t Lin Manuel, you know.

It was lovely to get out and about to enjoy our city. still such a novelty post lockdown.

Also enjoyed these delish bagels from Bricklane Bagels.

Also…. check this out!

The Quick Flick launched this new brow product last week, and I am SO KEEN to get my hands on it.

Content I enjoyed…

I’ve not actually read these yet, but the titles sound good lol! I’ll hopefully get a chance to read them later in the week ๐Ÿ™‚

TikTokers Are Treating Their Full-Time Job As A Side Hustle To Live Their Best Lives & I Want In

โ€œEverything Everywhere All At Onceโ€ Is Total Chaos

I Overstressed My Body Until It Shut Me Down

Something I’d recommend…

2 things: Firstly… go to bed early! I already do this quite often, like you won’t catch me up past 10pm on a school night ๐Ÿ˜‰ However Sunday night I was just so pooped (despite the extra hour of sleep thanks to daylight savings ending *sad face*), so I was in bed with the lights out at 8:15pm. It was amazing! Usually I have such FOMO (for, as proven time and time again, no reason) and stay on my phone for far too long in the evenings. But there was such a ‘aha’ moment in reclaiming my evening and having a healthy wind down. This makes me realise I’m so addicted to my phone… ekk!

Secondly, I have immediately added these eyeshadows to my wish list… stunning!!

I posted my Afterpay Day sales hauls on Insta if you’re curious to see what i picked up x

Brain dump…

Season 2 of Bridgerton came out over the weekend and I am so excited to watch it, but I’m saving it for when I have some more free time over Easter. Instead, I watched ‘Why Are You Like This’ on Netflix. Described on Google as ‘three best friends navigate life in their early 20s — including work, fun, identity politics, hookups, and wild nights — and leave a path of destruction in their wake.’ It sounded promising, and it’s based in Melbourne which I always tend to enjoy. However, the characters were not very likeable, and it ended randomly after 6 episodes. It tried so hard but wasn’t quite right for me. Put it on in the background if you need, but I don’t think you’re missing anything if you don’t watch it.

Content I enjoyed…

How dreamy is this Sydney home that belongs to Reliquia founder, Ana Piteira!

I am loving using Pinterest to get some Autumnal makeup inspiration… not that I am wearing much makeup these days lol. I actually went back to read this post of mine from April 2021 (which I reference life at the time to be ‘post pandemic’ lololololol) and got lots of great reminders for transitioning makeup to the cooler months, including this:

How To Transition Your Summer Makeup To Fall, According To A Celebrity Makeup Artist.

Lip, Brown, Hairstyle, Chin, Forehead, Eyebrow, Earrings, Eyelash, Eye shadow, Style,

Something I’d recommend…

I touched on this above, but as the weather starts to cool down as Australia heads into Autumn, I have really noticed a difference in my skin. Even though I have a hydrating skincare routine, my PM routine felt like it was missing something. I’ve been alternating my final step between the Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask and The Jojoba Co oil for a final burst of hydration and nourishment for my skin. It has really made a difference! But honestly, doing soccer training outside has really exposed my skin to the elements so I’m considering adding a HA serum in the morning too.

So, consider this your gentle reminder to reassess your skincare as the weather changes!

Brain dump…

We are a bit light on, content wise this week so I’m just going to leave this here ๐Ÿ˜‰

TL;DR is that I got my haircut and I love it! However, going to the hairdressers is always a stressful experience for me lol.

Content I enjoyed…

I remember feeling AWFUL when I tried on jeans for the first time post-lockdown… I don’t wish I could read this advice – on weight gain insecurity – back then because I know it would not have resonated with me in the thick of it. But now, I see that self-compassion goes a LONG way, and in many different aspects not just weight.

This series where Ashlee looks through her sister’s makeup bag has me cackling!

Something I’d recommend…

This week I really connected with my inner child and it’s so interesting when you stumble across those moments. I watched Zoe Sugg on Youtube – wild to me that she is a mum now! I loved her for makeup content in 2012 and still do. And I got a Boost juice lol. Going to Boost was such a ‘cool’ thing to do in high school, and I haven’t had one for agesssss.

What is an activity from your childhood you could do this week?

The Week Latte Newsletter #2

the week latte newsletter

Hello friends! I am so happy to be back with this new and improved newsletter format. I actually resurfaced on Insta this week… wild! Still working out how I want to move forward in that space.

Brain dump…

I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of necklaces to wear everyday, and never take off. I bought this one from Finer Rings to hopefully kick start this new habit. I have my eye on this one from Lil Jewellery that I am hoping will match nicely.

I feel so strongly about this… we have *evolved* beyond the need for a top sheet!!

Content I enjoyed…

I love hearing about the BTS of business, particularly the business of influencing, so this poddy episode was fabulous. I remember watching Sophie’s vlogs when she still worked at the ice cream shop omg!

Adding this book to my TBR pile immediately… It was a great read about ‘How Owning Your Power Can Help Build a Better System From the Inside Out.’

I am obsessed with this reel… I am adding everything to my wish list immediately.

Something I’d recommend…

This is a lesson I am finding really hard to learn in life… but how beautifully said is this:

On a less poetic note, Afterpay Day starts on Wednesday meaning your fave brand will probably have a sale going on, so just a heads up to get your wish lists ready ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m keen for Sephora and Glassons!!
